Shimakaze was literally one of a kind. This fast, heavily armed destroyer was Japan's test bed for a new type of propulsion system. Its steam turbine engines propelled it to 47 mph in test runs despite it carrying twice the guns and more sophisticated torpedoes than any other destroyer running. Japan had originally wanted to launch sixteen of these vessels, but the realities of war and limited production kept Shimakaze in a class all by herself. Kit features display stand and full decals.
