TRP02283 1:32 Trumpeter RAF Mustang III (P-51B/C) Fighter

When England decided to take delivery of the US P51 B/C Fighter, the RAF designated it the Mustang III. The British replaced the original framed hinged hood with a bulged frameless canopy that slid to the rear on rails. This canopy gave the pilot much more room and the huge goldfish bowl afforded a good view almost straight down or directly to the rear ("Malcolm hood"). Many pilots regarded the Malcolm-hooded P-51B/C as the best Mustang of the entire series. It was lighter, faster, and had crisper handling than the later bubble-hooded P-51D and actually had a better all-round view. England sold many Mustang II's to the Australian Air Force.

Kit consists of 292 parts on 12 sprues, 3 rubber tires, a film instrument panel, 76 photo etched parts (safety harnesses, radiator, etc), and markings for RAF sqn #315 & RAAF Sqn3. Additional features include optional clear fuselage for interior visibility, detailed 1650 engine, .50 caliber ammunition belts and M2 machine guns. Completed kit measures 10.5" long with a wingspan of over 13".
