Description

This ship was a WWII era New Orleans class heavy cruiser. On December7, 1941, San Francisco was in Pearl Harbor and was awaiting docking and the cleaning of her heavily fouled bottom. Japanese planes began bombing dives on Ford Island and by 8:00, the surprise air attack on Pearl Harbor was well underway. The men of the San Francisco secured the ship for watertightness and began looking for opportunities to fight back. Some crossed to the USS New Orleans to help man anti-aircraft batteries on that ship. Others began using available rifles and machine guns. Miraculously, the San Francisco was not bombed or damaged during the Japanese air raid. After the attack was over, work resumed to make the San Francisco seaworthy and combat-ready, and it later saw extensive action in WWII.

Kit consists of 263 parts on 7 sprues plus lower and upper hulls, a waterline plate display stand photo etched mast and radar and markings for 1942 MS21. Completed kit measures over 20" long.
